Value Engineering & Risk Analysis

We challenge the design, specification, procurement route and budget to find savings that do not weaken the finished development. The aim is to protect quality and sales value while reducing cost in areas that add little or no benefit to the customer.

Value Engineering and Cost Optimisation

A lot of wastage occurs from the appointment of external consultations whom have no budget and concept of costs, often resulting in over-engineered schemes. We challenge and find the efficiencies, often found in the housing and infrastructure design.

Project Review
Protect What Drives Sales

We understand that reducing cost cannot come at the expense of the finished home. The appearance, customer specification, performance and overall sales proposition must remain protected. Our expertise and knowledge is focused on retaining revenue whilst reducing build costs.

Choose the Fee Structure That Suits the Project

The fee structure is agreed before the review begins and can be tailored to the project, the information available and the level of support required.

Shared-Savings Fee

For suitable projects, our fee can be based on an agreed percentage of the savings that are evidenced, approved and achieved against an agreed starting budget. The baseline and calculation method are confirmed in writing before work begins.

Fixed-Fee Review

An agreed fee for reviewing a defined development, design stage or package and presenting a clear schedule of opportunities, estimated savings, considerations and recommended next steps.

Where We Look for Value

We review the whole development rather than concentrating on one product or trade package. This allows us to see where costs overlap, where specifications have moved beyond the original brief and where better buying decisions can be made.

Build Methods & Package Scope

Challenge construction methods, sequencing, temporary works, package interfaces and duplicated scope to identify more efficient ways of delivering the same outcome.

Budget & Risk Analysis

Test quantities, rates, preliminaries, provisional sums, infrastructure, abnormal costs and tender assumptions to identify where the budget is carrying unnecessary cost or insufficient allowance.

Design & Specification

Review drawings, construction details, schedules and specifications to remove unnecessary complexity, standardise repeated elements and align expenditure with the intended sales position.

Alternative Products & Suppliers

Compare specified products with suitable alternatives and different supply routes, considering price, availability, warranties, performance, appearance and installation cost.

Find the Savings Before the Cost Is Locked In

The strongest opportunity to influence cost is before drawings, specifications and trade appointments become fixed. We can review a development at appraisal, planning, design or pre-tender stage.

Establish the Starting Position

We review the available drawings, engineering information, surveys, specification, tenders and current budget to understand how the cost has been built up and agree the baseline for the review.

Identify and Test the Options

Each opportunity is considered against cost, buildability, programme, compliance, maintenance, appearance and sales impact. We explain the benefit and any trade-off rather than presenting a headline saving in isolation.

You decide which recommendations are taken forward. We can then obtain supporting quotations, confirm the revised scope and record the agreed saving so it remains visible through procurement and construction.

Before You Accept the Budget, Let Us Challenge It

Send us your drawings, engineering information, surveys, specification, tenders and current budget. We will review what is available, explain where we are most likely to add value and agree the appropriate fee structure with you.
